1.Organization Overview

The European Parents’ Association (EPA) is a pan-European umbrella organisation representing millions of parents through its national member associations. Its mission is to ensure that parents, as primary educators, have a strong and meaningful voice in shaping Europe’s education systems. EPA works to promote high-quality, inclusive and learner-centred education, and brings extensive experience in parental engagement, child rights, digital inclusion and policy outreach at a European level.

EPA’s work is grounded in core values that centre on the holistic well-being of children, the importance of equity and inclusion in every learning environment, and the belief that parents must be empowered to participate actively in educational decision-making. The organisation advocates for safe, ethical and transparent use of digital technologies in schools and encourages cooperative relationships between families, educators and policymakers.

2. Role in the GenAI4ED Project

Within GenAI4ED, EPA plays a key role in ensuring that the perspectives of parents and families are embedded in the development and implementation of generative-AI tools for education. EPA contributes to the definition of user requirements, ensuring that parental expectations, learner well-being and rights-related considerations are reflected from the early stages of design.

EPA also participates in the project’s ethical, psychological and social impact analyses, offering insights into how AI-powered tools may influence learners’ daily lives, family dynamics and trust in new technologies. As part of its contribution to the evaluation framework, EPA helps assess the acceptability, usability and safety of GenAI solutions from a family standpoint. Additionally, EPA supports dissemination, communication and policy activities, helping the project reach parent communities across Europe and strengthening the visibility and sustainability of GenAI4ED’s outcomes.

3. Contributions and Achievements

Throughout the project, EPA will provide an essential family-centred perspective that ensures GenAI4ED remains ethically grounded, inclusive and socially responsive. Their input will help shape practical policy recommendations on responsible AI integration in schools and contribute to the project’s evidence base by reflecting the concerns, expectations and lived experiences of parents across Europe.

EPA’s involvement will also enhance awareness and dialogue around AI in education, building trust and understanding among families and supporting schools in communicating transparently about new technologies. By connecting the project with a large European network of parent associations, EPA strengthens GenAI4ED’s dissemination efforts and positions the initiative to deliver long-term impact beyond the project’s lifetime.
